'Language as a tool for communication is important and precious, and the English language has become particularly important because of its wide useage throughout the world. I therefore welcome the initiative of English Language Studies for Tibetans.'
His Holiness The Dalai Lama, Dharamsala, April 1998
English Language Studies for Tibetans (ELST) is a registered charity based in Cambridge, England. Our aim is to advance education among the Tibetan communities living in exile in India and other Himalayan peoples. ELST supports and co-ordinates volunteering projects in India, and in the past has organised workshops in India. ELST has also provided scholarships in the past which brought Tibetans to Cambridge to undertake intensive three month English language courses.
ELST is associated with the Cambridge University ELST Society (CU ELST).
