NEWSLETTER WINTER 2006

Welcome to the web based ELST newsletter! On this page you'll find news about :-

ELST SCHOLAR 2006

ELST friends were sad to see Chokey Dolma (ELST Scholar 2006) leave Cambridge. Whilst a visting scholar at Girton College Chokey contributed a great deal to life at college and Cambridge. This included talking to fellows at Girton and Newnham, reading some of her poetry at poetry evenings, giving Tibetan lessons to fellow Girton students and much more. Chokey was a very dedicated and enthusiastic ELST scholar and we wish her every success as she returns to India. Click here to see a story about Chokey Dolma and the Cambridge-Tibet connection.

ELST SCHOLAR 2007

Congratulations to Ms. Tsering Yangkey who has been selected as ELST scholar 2007. Ms. Yangkey works for the Department of Culture and Religion of the Tibetan Government in Exile and is no stranger to ELST having attended the ELST Workshop 2001.

SUMMER VOLUNTEER PROJECTS

On 29th October 2006, ELST volunteers who had completed projects in the long vacation of 2006 gave presentations about their projects at Kings College. The evening demonstrated the success of the summer scheme with colourful (and interactive) talks covering the projects based in Dharamsala and Mongolia. Summaries of the volunteer reports can be found here.
