ELST SCHOLARSHIP 2006

Dr. Tsering Thakchoe Drungtso is now back at Men Tsee Khang. He was in Cambridge for Lent term 2005. He enjoyed his time at Darwin College and at Studio Cambridge. Tsering and ELST thank them for their welcoming and generous hospitality. Tsering gave a number of talks on traditional Tibetan medicine during his stay in Cambridge.

Advertisements for the next scholarship, Easter Term 2006 at Girton College and Studio Cambridge, are now running in the Tibetan Review and on this website.

SUMMER 2005 VOLUNTEER PROJECTS

Building on the successes of 2004, ELST has again provided financial and practical help to individuals and to small groups of Cambridge university volunteers. Their projects have taken them to Mongolia, Laddakh, Varanasi, Bylakuppe, Dharamsala…….. Reports, memories and photos will be published on this website shortly.

Some of the students who received project support will be talking about their experiences at the ELST presentation on the 23rd October.

SUMMER 2006 PLANS

The feedback from the 2005 projects has been very positive with both Cambridge volunteers and Tibetans benefiting. With this in mind, ELST is planning to fund and offer a similar scheme next year. Volunteers are needed now to join in planning the scheme overall and in managing the process of selection, grant allocation and project planning.

FUNDRAISING

The volunteer teams and ELST thank the Cambridge University Active Community Fund and the many other donors, colleges and trusts who have generously supported us.

ELST is very grateful for the further pledges already received. ELST has a fundraising task of around £6500 for the 2005/6 academic year.

Your compassion helps to illuminate the peaceful example being given to the world by the Tibetans in India.
