For several years, ELST has helped to advance education among the Tibetan communities living in exile in India and other Himalayan peoples through scholarships and workshops.
In summer 2004, ELST trialled a new approach. A small number of Cambridge University students were given grants to carry out educational volunteering with the Tibetan community in exile. The scheme was a success and ELST has continued to support this approach.
Selected volunteers are given travel grants, introductions to Tibetan groups and institutions in India, assistance in planning placements and help with further fundraising. ELST also offer help with brushing up on TEFL and business and management skills and provide advice on travel and cultural issues.
Volunteers were supported in 2005, 2006 and 2007
Volunteering Opportunities
